What should you look at when booking a session.

Choosing the right photographer for you and your family can be a daunting task. You want to make sure you find someone who will take your vision and make it a reality. It can be hard to find the exact photographer of your dreams in your neighbourhood, but I have complied a short list of things to look for and consider when booking your next photographer!

  1. First things first; check out their website, Facebook, Instagram any sort of place that has samples of their work. You want to be sure to find out what their style is and how your images would look when you are delivered them. You do not want to book a photographer who has a style that is more on the darker and moodier side if you are looking specifically for those light, bright and airy images.
  2. Read through their "About Me" page to get a sense of who your photographer is. We as photographers write these pages to make you, our potential clients, feel more comfortable with us even if we have never meet before. I know writing my personal "About Me" page was so much fun and I loved sharing things that I am passionate about with you!
  3. Either talk to the photographer themselves or read up on their sessions, their pricing and how they sell products. If you are looking for a photographer that will give you the digital copies of your images be sure to discuss that with the potential photographer of your choice, not all photographers will sell the digital images. If you are looking for something specific never be afraid to ask the photographer themselves.
  4. Ask for clarification on pricing and packaging. Every photographer is different in how they offer products and packages. You never want to be unsure about what you are paying and what you will be receiving. Never be afraid to ask questions, trust me you will end up getting the most by asking questions. This should also be written in any contract you sign with the photographer, be sure to read through the contract and make sure it matches what you and your photographer have discussed.
  5. Read reviews and testimonials left by past clients. This can be very insightful into how the photographer works with clients and the experience that they can provide. I did leave this till the last point because sometimes reading the reviews may not give you a clearer picture of the photographer and their work.

This by no means is the end-all be-all of this to consider, but in my opinion it is a great place to start!
