My Style

What is style when it comes to photography? Probably not something that first comes to mind if you are not a photographer; but it should!

My style I like to define as light, bright and natural! But what does that mean? Let me explain!

During our session I tend to move away from rigid posing and guiding you into poses. That doesn't mean I won't help you pose, I will I promise. Once I help you get into a general pose of how to stand to elongate your body, or help you move your head to avoid a double chin, I am going to tell you to act naturally. Don't force a smile, trust me you can tell when it is forced. I will ask you to laugh or have a conversation if you are not the only one. I don't lean towards the look at me and smile poses, I want more of a candid and real reaction from you. My poses are more of prompts to get you moving and acting naturally without even knowing it. This way we avoid the awkward "Hey look at me and pretend you are happy to be here," type photos. Are kids involved in your session? Let them run and be wild like they are anywhere else, I will make it work. I want them to be comfortable and be themselves to capture their personality, I mean that is why you love them!

Does that mean that you won't have any of the traditional poses? Nope, we can still use those traditional poses you see in most images but they won't come across at awkward or forced.

In terms of editing, light and bright is essential! I love the colours of the world and I want to showcase those! I strive for the most natural skin tones and making sure your eyes pop! We want vibrant, captivating images and in my opinion light and bright is the way to go! I can and still do the classic black and white images as well, black and white can be light and bright too!

Stay tuned for a "How I edit" post and I will show you the process I use!
